Proper Ways to Harvest Philippine Cinnamon Bark

How to sustainably harvest Philippine cinnamon bark and leaves.

Technique #2 (source: DOST-FPRDI): If you really have to, please properly strip off your mature Philippine cinnamon tree. Otherwise, please leave it alone as mother tree. You may use the small stems and leaves instead. We need as many Philippine cinnamon mother trees!

We have shared yesterday Technique #1 (sources: Phil DENR RISE Nov 1992; National Cinnamon Research and Training Center, Sri Lanka) on harvesting bark from young trees from your farms.

We haven’t tried Technique #2, but the research of DOST-FPRDI is pretty solid. You may watch the full presentation of Ms. Florena B. Samiano in the link provided in the comment section. (Go to 3:05:15 to 3:22:50)

Be sure to plant your own Philippine cinnamon at home, as part of your container gardening, or in the ground, at home or in the farm, as food and medicine. Message us for the seedlings! #conservation #livelihood #health #local
