Cut Back Your Young Philippine Cinnamon Tree
How to sustainably harvest Philippine cinnamon bark and leaves.Technique #1 (sources: Phil DENR RISE Nov 1992; National Cinnamon Research and Training Center, Sri Lanka): Cut back your young Philippine cinnamon tree. We will share tomorrow Technique #2 (Source: DOST-FPRDI) on harvesting bark from mature trees. We tried Technique #1, and we find it really good because it produces many new stems (12 new stems as shown in the picture). As you know, we distill the Philippine cinnamon leaves to produce oil and aromatic water; more stems mean more leaves (more oil) and easy harvesting. The bark is, of course, great! Plant your own Philippine cinnamon now for your food and medicine.
Be sure to plant your own Philippine cinnamon at home, as part of your container gardening, or in the ground, at home or on the farm, as food and medicine. Message us for the seedlings! #conservation #livelihood #health #local
